Started work today. Had a taster yesterday of the type of work we will be doing as we built a long table and benches for us to eat at!!
So today we walked to the site and started clearing stones from the stream. We are going to build a dam, and get the fresh water to the village for them to drink so they don't have to boil river water. We then cleared a pathway so we can bring the materials there. This involved paranging (using a machete) the trees away. Funny eh, in order to attempt to SAVE the forest you have to DESTROY some of it!

I got leeched. I hate them, they are insanely gross. I got a blister from sawing a branch, and I got leeched ON the open wound! Sucked loads of blood, it didn't stop bleeding for ages. So glad we're working somewhere in the shade! its so hot...
