Nanga Matu, Belantikan, Yayorin Base, accommodation for next 4 weeks! 10/5

Arrived today at our home for the next few weeks! The journey here was long.. We drove past all the evils destroying the forest..miles and miles of palm oil plantations, past loggers and mines. A pretty soul destroying journey to be honest! But is a reminder of what we are going to be working against. Once we got to the town of Bayat, we were told we couldn't get to the village, it was too late, and being on a small Kelotok in the dark is generally a very bad idea. SO, we ended up staying the night in some random villager's living room :/!! When we walked in they had music blaring out a stereo powered by their generator...really terrible dance music, it felt like we had just walked into a really bad local club. Sleeping on the bare floor was not comfortable.

So this morning we got the boat to the village, 2 hour journey, the engine is soo loud, i wore my sexy Cath Kidson poncho as i was getting wet. I sunburnt my legs badly. Why do I always think I can avoid sunburn when its cloudy? STUPID.

The village we are staying in is one street. Amazing. Apart from one other person, we are the first westerners to come here!! Very remote location. Where we're sleeping is nice! I expected a lot more basic.
